Kitchen
A Simple Ranch Kitchen
Upgrading and expanding the cabinetry and countertops to make the kitchen more modern and more functional.
The old cabinetry was worn-out, and we were tired of the strong faux-wood patterns in it and in the countertops… And, we needed to get rid of that old wallpaper! Even with new lighting and tile flooring, this was a very simple, but dramatic, renovation at minimal cost. (Notice that we did not even replace any appliances.) The totally new peninsula made great use of otherwise wasted space, got the microwave oven off the main countertop and gave us a little more storage, too. We chose a more tasteful wallpaper scheme and, adding a chair rail, extended it around the entire kitchen and dining area.

New Kitchen Island
New island and countertops.
We replaced the cabinetry and plumbing for the original island in the middle of the room. Then, we installed all new granite countertops, throughout.

The Lowe Kitchen
A fast and simple update to a boring '70s-style kitchen with a dropped-ceiling, fluorescent panels, and almond plastic laminate everywhere.
A dramatic change in appearance with a minimal amount of renovation inconveniences. Raising the ceiling made a world of difference in preparing for all new cabinets, countertops and appliances. Termite and water damage necessitated a complete rebuilding of the bay window structure (pressure treated lumber, this time). But, this gave us the opportunity to install all-wood window casing blending beautifully into waincoting throughout the kitchen.

The Smith Kitchen
Opening up the kitchen and dining space.
Our original kitchen was walled-off from the living space and we had no real dining room. We removed most of the walls around the kitchen and installed an island to keep the kitchen space defined (but, larger than before) while keeping an open feel. We added a small section of wall to better define the dining "room" in our existing bay window and to locate some sideboard cabinetry. Overall, everything feels much more open than before.

Andrews Master Bathroom
A Major Remodeling
We took over a neighboring closet to dramatically enlarge our master bath. This gave us room for a new garden tub and a separate shower stall, not to mention "his and hers" sinks.

Room Addition
The Hopkins Bedroom Addition
Adding a complete master suite.
We went all the way with this project, opting for major renovation rather than moving. We nearly doubled the size of our home by adding a complete master suite. This gave us everything we really wanted.
